Acerenza – one of the most beautiful small towns in Italy – lies on a board valley between the Bradano river and the Fiumarella stream, at 833 metres above sea level. Described by the Latin poet Orazio, who was born in Venosa, a nearby small town, it is characterised by its high city walls and the imposing Cathedral of St. Maria Assunta . This building, visible anywhere in the town, is a vestige of the glorious past of Acerenza, as well as one of the several references to the Order of the Templars. In few words, it is a place rich in history, where you can also admire the Valley of Bradano; a place not to be missed!
