A captivating journey through the charming village of Grassano, among ancient alleys, breathtaking views, and stories that weave together historical memory and local traditions. The tour begins in Piazza Purgatorio, the meeting point and starting place of our guided walk. From here, along Corso Umberto, we will visit the historic Locanda Prisco, a house-museum that once hosted Carlo Levi during his exile in Basilicata, today a custodian of invaluable cultural heritage. We will then continue to Palazzo Materi, a 19th-century noble residence that preserves period furnishings, photographs, and works of art, as well as the famous nativity scene by master Franco Artese, a masterpiece that enchants both young and old. The path will lead us to the picturesque Chiazzodd, the beating heart of the old town, before reaching the majestic Chiesa Madre, originally built next to the palace of the Commander of the Knights of Malta, a true symbol of local spirituality and history. A stop at the Belvedere terrace will offer guests a unique view of the surrounding townscape and rolling hills, before descending to the enchanting Parco dei Cinti: a magical place dotted with caves carved into the rock, once used as wine cellars, and enriched with ancient bas-reliefs depicting the Jerusalem cross.
