Craco Vecchia, better known under the name of "Ghost Town", is located in the area of “Calanchi Lucani”, 45 km away from the best-known Matera. The village was forcibly evacuated following the disastrous landslide of '63, the flood of '72 and the earthquake of the '80s. The bell tower of the church overlooking the village was the only building to stay intact, resisting bad weather conditions and the subsidence of the land. It is a truly picturesque place full of art, history, landscape and tragedies. The nostalgic and ghostly atmosphere of the ruins of Craco has conquered the hearts of various filmmakers and producers, who transformed it in a prestigious film set.
