Sassi by night Tour starts from Piazzetta Pascoli, with an historical-archaeological introduction of the city. Following the narrow alleys, the stairs and the terraces, you’ll go down to the most ancient area of Sassi called Sasso Caveoso. Walking down Via Bruno Buozzi, you’ll arrive at the Idris cliff, which holds the treasures of the Bizantine monasticism, and where stand two important rock-hewn churches: Santa Maria dell’Idris and San Giovanni in Monterrone. Going up to cliff, you’ll see the breath-taking view of the enlightened Sassi, with the district of Civita in the middle of the view. Following the pathway down, you’ll arrive at San Pietro Caveoso Square, where you’ll admire the homonymous Romanic church and the incredible view of the Murgia wild highland at the other side of the cliff.
