The Grotta dei Pipistrelli, literally the Bats' Cavern, is a natural cave, located in the Regional Park of Rupestrian Churches of Matera. It boasts a high scientific value as well as a picturesque location that dates back to Prehistory. That is why, whoever enters the famous cavern gets the feeling of travelling through time. A number of historical objects that date back to Middle Paleolithic have been unearthed here, as well as remains of animals that lived several millennia ago.
