The footbridge, known as the Tibetan Bridge, is one of the main attractions for all kinds of hikers, even less experienced ones. The Tibetan Bridge of Matera, which is just 1 m wide, spans the Gravina stream at the height of 9 m above it, linking to the two banks of the river. Our hiking tour starts in the ancient heart of the city, i.e. Porta Postergola, in the Caveoso area. Following the path n. 406 that gradually decends to the bottom of the valley, you will enjoy a marvellous landscape around you while listening to a qualified guide, who will reveal all the secrets of this magic place. After having arrived at the bottom of the ravine, you will face the main adventure: crossing the Tibetan bridge. Once on other side, you will continue to follow the path which will lead you to some gorgeous panoramic points and those places which have been locations for shooting different biblical films, as well as rock-hewn church complexes. The tour ends with a small tasting of our traditional food products in order to restore the energy after hiking.
