Are you ready to set out on a journey back to the Renaissance? Join us on the tour to Montepulciano, a pearl of the sixteenth century, perched atop the hill of 600 meters above sea level. The town is famous for its wine ‘Nobile’, and for having repeatedly been film and TV show set. Furthermore, Montepulciano preserves a number of pieces by important Florentine Renaissance artists, such as Michelozzo and Antonio da San Gallo. Every year theatrical performances and folklore events are being organized on the Piazza Grande, for example, the Bravio delle Botti: a race that involves two runners, representing two city districts, who compete to be first to roll an 80 kg barrel from the lower to the upper part of the city. The splendid Palazzo Comunale, reminiscent of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, also overlooks the Piazza Grande.
