San Gimignano, known as The Town of Fine Towers, is located atop a panoramic hill in the heart of Tuscany; halfway between Siena and Florence. Famous for Vernaccia white wine and saffron, San Gimignano is also rich in history, picturesque alleys, saints and legends. An authorized guide will lead you along the main street of via San Giovanni to Piazza della Cisterna, the economic heart of the city, and then to Piazza del Duomo. The former square is the religious and political center of the town, where the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, the Town Hall and the tallest tower ‘Torre Grossa’ (54 m high) stand and dominate the city.
